AN ANALYSIS OF ENGLISH IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS IN THE MOVIE FINDING NEMO

Abstract


The purpose of this research is to identify, classify, and analyze idioms based on their forms and meanings in the film Finding Nemo. The purpose of this research is also to find out which expressions make listeners and readers more interested in what they hear and read. We found that there are 10 idiomatic expressions in the film finding Nemo. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through observation. The researchers watched Finding Nemo while identifying the idiomatic expressions that appear in the film. The researchers then analyzed the types of idiomatic expressions. The results of our research reveal that there are 4 English idiomatic expressions in Finding Nemo that have the same types of euphemistic idioms, 2 types of partial expression idioms, 2 types of pure idioms, and 2 types of prepositional idioms in English. From the analysis of these idiomatic expressions, it can be concluded that many English idioms have the same meaning but appear in different forms.
