Abstract

Individuals in their early adulthood are expected to focus more on their main tasks for their development such as working or finding life partner rather than doing fan activities. However, in reality many early adult ARMYs are doing celebrity worship to BTS, that causes them to neglect their development tasks. This happens because they cannot set priorities and tend to have low self-control. This research aims to uncover the correlation between self-control and celebrity worship in early adult ARMYs. This is a correlational research with non-experimental quantitative method. By deploying purposive sampling for the sampling technique, 100 respondents are obtained. The self-control scale is 27 valid items with a value of (α) = 0.894. The celebrity worship scale is 31 valid items with a value of (α) = 0.937. The result of product moment calculation shows that there is a significant negative relationship between self-control and celebrity worship in early adult BTS ARMYs (sig. p = 0.042, r = -0.240) which means that the hypothesis in this study is accepted. Moreover, this research shows that self-control contributes 4.2% to celebrity worship.  Low and high self-control have the same amount of percentage, that is 50% each. The respondents of this research is mostly on the borderline pathological level (41%) Meanwhile, the lowest self-control is mostly at the borderline pathological level (24%) and the highest self-control is mostly at the social entertainment level (18%).
