PENGARUH KONTROL DIRI TERHADAP KECENDERUNGAN KECANDUAN GAME ONLINE PADA REMAJA YANG BERMAIN FREE FIRE DI JAKARTA

Abstract


Adolescence as a process of searching for identity with high curiosity, sometimes makes teenagers do negative behavior such as addiction to online games, which is caused by the inability of adolescents to control their behavior or what is called self-control. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of self-control on the tendency of online game addiction in adolescents who play free fire in Jakarta. This research design is quantitative-causal comparative, with accidental sampling technique. The number of samples is 100 teenage respondents who play free fire online games. The instrument used is a self-control measuring instrument with a reliability of (α) = 0.955 and consists of 48 valid items. Measuring the tendency of online game addiction with a reliability of (α) = 0.954 and consists of 51 valid items. The results showed that there was a significant negative effect of self-control on the tendency of online game addiction in adolescents who played free fire online games, the hypothesis was accepted (sig. (p) 0.000)); ((p)<0.05). Self-control has an effect of 23.5% on the tendency of online game addiction, while the remaining 76.5% is influenced by other variables or factors. The findings of this study are adolescents with low self-control, namely 52 adolescents (52%) and adolescents who have a high tendency to become addicted to online games, namely 53 adolescents (53%).
